Sales of our CHESTY STUFFY aromatherapy massage oil are increasing. Due to the current spate of people presenting to pharmacies and health stores for remedies for, sore throats and chest infections seeking cough medicines. Nationally sales are up for expectorant products. Many people are choosing over the counter products but there are many natural ones that can help too. Quite a lot of young people are suffering cold like symptoms, sore throats and stuffy noses. Our Chesty Stuffy massage oil is made with aromatherapy essential oils ideal to help. Made with Eucalyptus, Lemon and Tea Tree aromatherapy essential oils all natural goodness. There has been a ‘dramatic rise’ in cough medicine sales, with an independent Irish pharmacy chain CARE PLUS seeing a spike of over 40pc. Expectorant Essential Oils AromatherapyEssential oils are fabulous to use to help the system cope and combat any infections like throat and chest infections. Eucalyptus - Ten over-the-counter decongestant products, such as chest rubs, essential oils for steam inhalation, contain eucalyptus oil. This oil can relieve the symptoms of colds and coughs, including sinus congestion and stuffiness. The oil is made from the leaves of the eucalyptus tree. Lemon - Just like salt water and honey, lemons are great for sore throats because they can help break up mucus and provide pain relief. They are an excellent booster for vitamin C and bio-flavanoids. The fresh lemon juice also alkalyses the blood which can also reduce the infection time. Tea Tree Tea Oil - has antiviral properties that have proven to be effective against common pathogens. A 2001 study found that a combination of tea tree oil and eucalyptus oil worked effectively against the herpes simplex virus. A 2013 study found that tea tree oil could prevent the spread of influenza. Honey Lemon Ginger TeaWhen I used to live in Northern India in the Buddhist monastery in winter time one of the most requested drink by many of the people of Norther India was honey lemon ginger tea. Honey has according to Scientists at the University of Oxford found honey was 'superior' in soothing symptoms for those with a cold, flu or other upper respiratory tract infection (URTI). They reviewed 14 different studies, each comparing honey to another method of care for URTIs, such as cough suppressants, steroids and antibiotics. Honey came out very effective. Ginger A 2011 laboratory study found that ginger showed a higher antibacterial effect than antibiotics against Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes. S. pyogenes is the bacterium that causes streptococcal pharyngitis, known as strep throat. Mindful Beauty Arthro Box

So here we are at part 2 of the menopause series and I thought I would focus on the trouble with sleep women with menopause suffer. From doing promotions for Mindful Beauty products all over the country we can tell you lots of woman start sleep problems when the menopause hits. They tell us about waking up too early and also not being able to go back to sleep since the menopause started.Plus the added effect of hot flushes. Loads of women have been helped by our Lavender Pillow Mist which is made with real extract of lavender essential oils and also German Chamomile. This spray is available throughout the country from health stores and pharmacies. Ours is 9.99 Euros compared to imports of 25.99 and ours is made in Ireland. Insomnia - The Silent EpidemicWomen are more likely to suffer from sleepless nights than men. Some psychologists believe the main reasons why so many people lie awake at night are health concerns and relationship difficulties. A recent survey, which polled people in five European countries, found severe insomniacs had often experienced marital breakdowns or were single parents. The study also showed that in Britain and Sweden home to severe sufferers - those with difficulty going to sleep and waking frequently during the night - were more likely to be in the 25 to 34 age bracket. Fifty percent of insomnia has been attributed to depression, grief or anxiety. Menopausal sleep trouble is connected to causing depression and anxiety in menopausal women. So having what is called good 'sleep hygiene' is really important. According to this study Germany had the lowest number of insomniacs – only 45% of the population were affected. Adults on average sleep for between 7-8 hours. Insomnia is among the most common health complaint presented to GPs, often leading to psychological distress, impaired functioning, and increased accidents, sick time, doctor visits, and risk of major depression. Termed “a silent epidemic of staggering proportions”, insomnia is undiagnosed and untreated in an estimated 95% of cases, in part because health care professionals receive little or no training in its management. Insomnia is also known to be a condition that can have many causes. Benzo SleepOne of the main treatments from orthodox medicine to manage insomnia is the use of prescription drugs called benzodiazepines. Some research has shown that the use of sleeping pills can make the insomnia worse in 50% of cases. Benzodiazepines are the most commonly prescribed insomnia treatment. While studies support their short-term use, they are a controversial long-term remedy because of potential side effects including dependence, tolerance, disruption of sleep stages, daytime residual effects, and rebound insomnia. Some can create an addiction. When taken with alcohol the combination doubles the effect of both causing potential damage to your liver. Mindful Beauty Sweet Dreams Box

Holistic Treatment of Insomnia Lack of sleep can cause immediate signs of stress, the mood drops as well as levels of magnesium and zinc in the body. Sleep isn’t just good for the mind it is also good for the body. The body repairs itself every night during the first three hours of sleep. The best way to get your sleep back on track is to cut out caffeine - a stimulant found in coffee and tea. Not many people know it but chocolate has much higher levels of caffeine than coffee. Eating your main meal in the day has also been found to help the biorhythm that normally manages your sleep to return to normal. Timetable a routine for yourself and try not to sleep during the day. Only use the bedroom for sex and sleep, not for work, or watching television and eating. Get up at the same time every morning even if you have not slept well. Detoxify your mind by writing down your thoughts and worries last thing at night and try not to think of them again until the morning. Visualising yourself asleep may trigger the subconscious mind to effect that state into being. Focusing on the insomnia only creates more of it. Instead, try to visualise yourself as being relaxed and sleepy this may change your psychological condition and invite sleep. Only use our Lavender Pillow Mist in the bedroom. When your nose and brain smells the scent it triggers the emotional centres of your brain to relax and start to get you ready for sleep. Over 3000 people now recommend our mindfulness Cd to help with get them off to sleep by listening to relaxing visualisations. Dream Massage Oil 250ml - for trouble sleeping

€24.99
100% NATURAL, VEGAN and CRUELTY-FREE Our Eau de Cologne is made with 100% pure essential oils from herbs & spices. We developed this unisex Cologne with spring in mind & wanted to return to the use of high quality natural ingredients which is what our brand is known for. Many perfume houses in France only used essential oils to create colognes & perfume up to the 1930’s. Like any work of art our formula is secret but nourishes the body, mind & soul. With top notes of Bergamot, Lemon, Grapefruit & Orange; heart notes of Ylang ylang, Neroli & French Lavender & with base notes of Cedarwood, Vetivert & Frankincense. Ralph Quinlan Forde the founder of Mindful Beauty has formulated this Cologne with his knowledge of perfumery he gained from studying in Grasse, France - the epicentre of international perfume craft. In 1708, Giovanni Farina wrote to his brother Jean Baptiste: "I have found a fragrance that reminds me of an Italian spring morning, of mountain daffodils & orange blossoms after the rain". He named his fragrance Eau de Cologne, in honour of his new hometown in Germany as he was missing Italy. The Mindful Beauty Eau de Cologne is just that: citrus floral spring mornings - crisp, fresh & awakening. So here is Part 1 of the menopause series where I will be giving natural health tips from the halls of Complementary Medicine. This blog is all to do with Chinese Medicine and their amazing herb for menopause - Dong Quai. This is known in Chinese Medicine as the female Ginseng. And for good reason too. Over 50% of people use CAM (Complimentary or Alternative Medicine) and most of them do not discuss this with their doctor. There is no point as medical students in Ireland have absolutely no training in herbal medicine or naturopathic medicine. So they have nothing informed to say when asked about herbal medicines, homeopathy, tissue salts, Chinese Medicines etc; This is why I am writing these blogs. To give evidence based information about complimentary medicine. I see CAM as preventative medicine. About 13% of Australian women use CAM therapies for managing hot flushes, and the three most commonly used CAM therapies they use are phytoestrogens (plant-based female hormones), evening primrose oil and ginseng. But first let us have a recap on what menopause is. What is Menopause & Perimenopause?Menopause is the point at which a woman stops ovulating and menstruation stops, oestrogen disappears causing lots of side effects, indicating the end of fertility. However many years before the menopause, levels of oestrogen production slow down and this is called the perimenopause. This can start fifteen years before the menopause and is called the ‘circadian’. Apart from being a sex or reproductive hormone, oestrogen acts on many organs and systems in the body. Cells in the vagina, bladder, breasts, skin, bones, arteries, heart, liver, and brain all contain oestrogen receptors and require this hormone to stimulate these receptors for normal cell function. Oestrogen is required to keep the skin healthy and contributes in the bone formation process. There will be more information in coming weeks when I will explain how to include phytoestrogens in your diet. HRT - Hormone Replacement TherapyAfter the scares in the media about the risks associated with HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) over 20 years ago which have been published in the past, there is a strong case for using alternative medicine to balance the body, especially when you get to supply your body with plant hormones rather than ones derived from horse’s urine. Research in the past has highlighted the side effects of taking HRT to include breast cancer and heart disease but we know today your risk is quite low if you take transdermal patches, in particular, of HRT. Many women experience few if any symptoms during this time but others may suffer from some or all of the following; anxiety, hot flushes, dry skin, fatigue, feelings of bloating, headaches, heart palpitations, insomnia, irritability, decreased interest in sex, loss of concentration, vaginal dryness and weight gain. So not all menopause experience has the commonly known symptoms so it is possible to just sail through if you are in that lucky quarter. Or if you are Japanese woman. When the menstruation stops altogether most of the acute problems a woman will face are over and a new balance between hormones is established. This is the stage when she may be vulnerable to potentially serious health problems such as cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis and vaginal atrophy. Many GPs have recommended hormone replacement therapy HRT to control severe symptoms caused by oestrogen deficiency in menopausal and post- menopausal women. Basically a molecularly similar oestrogen is taken by the woman but this oestrogen is synthetic and only close to the natural oestrogens produced in the body. Chinese Medicine & Dong quaiIn Chinese Medicine, menopause is looked at as a period in which the energy of the kidney is declining. For the Chinese Medicine doctor the kidney has a corresponding emotion, tissue, sensory organ and element. These are respectively, fear, bone, ear and water. The adrenal glands on the top of the kidney are now responsible for producing the hormones that the ovaries used to produce. Chinese herbal medicine is one of the best ways of treating the menopause as the approach is holistic and this appeals to the condition as it is very much a mind body spirit imbalance. The herbal formulas that the Chinese doctor will give will replace the oestrogens that you are now not producing with plant oestrogens. One of the formulas in Chinese Medicine acclaimed for its beneficial effects for the menopause is called four things soup. Dong qui Angelica sinensis has long been used to treat menopause in Chinese Medicine and for the women of China. Thousands of years in fact. Western herbalists view it as a uterine tonic. The Chinese Drs have used it also to treat amenorrhea. The herb has also been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. Evidence Based Dong QuaiOver 70 compounds have been isolated and identified from Danggui. The main chemical constituents of Angelica roots include ferulic acid, Z-ligustilide, butylidenephthalide and various polysaccharides. Among these compounds, ferulic acid exhibits many bioactivities especially anti-inflammatory and immunostimulatory effects; Z-ligustilide exerts anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, neuroprotective and anti-hepatotoxic effects; n-butylidenephthalide exerts anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer and anti-cardiovascular effects.1 The herb is known by millions of women for benefits as stabilising mood swings, reducing hot flushes and decreasing insomnia. Even though many Chinese Medicine practitioners recommend taking this herb as part of a blend, most take it on its own. If you are on anticoagulant medication like warfarin you cannot take it as the herb interferes with the action. Also not to be used during pregnancy as it has oestrogen like effects and could cause a miscarriage. This is what the American Herbal Pharmacopeia has to say,' Dang gui is especially important because it fills a therapeutic niche not readily addressed in Western conventional or herbal medicine. It has been used successfully for several hundred years, and can broaden therapeutic options for women beyond hormone replacement therapies and hysterectomies. Hopefully, increased use of dang gui and its appropriate formulas will help to reduce at least a portion of the 600,000+ hysterectomies performed annually in the USA." Dong quai is probably available from most health food stores and some pharmacies who value herbal medicine. 1. Chao, WW., Lin, BF. For an entire week - which is a long time in radio - RTE's Joe Duffy has opened the radio waves to the women in Ireland. All to talk about their experience of the menopause. This has been a watershed moment and seems like a second Mná na hÉireann highlight in Irish history. Women rang into RTE and spoke across the nations airwaves explaining how they thought they were going mad, how their Dr's ignored the fact of the 'perimenopause', how people had to get a divorce because of a personality change due to hormonal changes and how some women spoke of how others took an opportunity to condescend when they found out another women was on HRT as if she had failed her driving test. A collective lived experience that has empowered more Irish women. Women in BlackCulturally women who went through 'the change' in Europe would traditionally wear black. This was practiced in Ireland by women who used to wear a black shawl. This is now still widely practised across the Mediterranean coast line especially in Greece. As people who have done my course will tell you I am always saying - information is power. The more informed a person is the better. The RTE radio show gave a long needed platform for discussion on this topic and gave women space to speak out and clarify misunderstandings with better information. Blogging for MenopauseSo I have decided to write a number of blogs devoted to natural medicine information related to menopause and how various complimentary medicines can help you during the transition. This will be in a five part series starting on this Saturday with Chinese Medicine for menopause. Evidence based. One amazing situation is that the Japanese don't even have a word for menopause in their language. The reason being is that the women there practically don't suffer it. The reason? Their diet which is high in fish and soy. Soy has a compound in it called isoflavone which is 1/20th the strength of oestrogen. When you consider menopause is triggered by a lessening of oestrogen over time in a woman's body you can see the benefits. These interesting facts and more are what I will be covering over the next few blogs as well as nutrition, aromatherapy, homeopathy and herbal medicine - all to help people with menopause. I have healed numerous women with menopausal symptoms with one Chinese Medicine herb. This will all be revealed this Saturday. Sign-up for Menopause Health InfoIf there are people who you think will be interested in this information get them to sign up to this newsletter. Sounds like a lot of people need this information from everything that has been spoken of for a week all over the nation. For all the women who find they can't sleep since ' the change' our lavender pillow spray has been a life saver. Women have told us time and time again. These Mindful Beauty Pillow Mist's are available in stores all over Ireland. If your local store does not have them they can easily order it in. If you buy ours it o is 9.99 Euros but if you buy an import it will easily be over 20.00 Euros or more. We also use only aromatherapy essential oils and not perfume. Neroli Candle with Eco-soy Wax

This looked like an interesting romantic comedy. Something that everyone could watch. However it went far deeper....into the mind. Directed by Thor Freudenthal and written by Nick Naveda, based on the novel of the same name by Julia Walton. Charlie Plummer just nailed the character Adam a blossoming teenager with a love of cooking and gastronomy who has his first psychotic episode in chemistry class. At the same time of coming of age he was also coming to terms with a diagnosis and obligatory medication. The director has done a fantastic job of what it is like to be in the mind of a person who is having a psychotic episode. He every cleverly does this using special effects to visually depict what psychosis must be like. The plot takes a very interesting direction when he also depicts the 'voices' in Adam's head as being like real people who you will understand all serve a function for him thanks to the movie. One issue many people who enter the hands of psychiatrists, who aim to do well, is how medication can have all sorts of side effects. One many people comment on is weight gain but depending on the medication, or medication 'cocktail' there can be a type of 'depersonalisation' sometimes. In other words a dimming of a persons light. An arrest of the spirit. Now do not get me wrong people need the medication especially if they are a danger to themselves or others. There is no debate there but there is a cost - sometimes. Did you know one in four adults in Ireland currently take an antidepressant compared to one in twenty in the UK. The axis of the movie was how an ordinarily seeming teenager enters into a crisis and ends up with a diagnosis of schizophrenia. You are given a unique insight into what he is going through and especially of his mind in crisis. This is why I believe everyone should see the movie especially family members who can only conceive but not perceive what psychosis is actually like to experience. The experience of the movie I hope will engender a lot of compassion. By being given a taste of what psychosis is like for those experiencing it through the special effects in the movie compassion can only increase towards people living with the condition. You will particularly love the speech at the end of the movie by Adam which should be shown in all schools. His mothers role was brilliantly played by Molloy Parker who as soon as the diagnosis came, went on a courageous quest to find the best doctors and medication for her son. A diagnosis that happens shortly into when a new romantic relationship for her begins. This side of the plot reminded me of the movie Patrick about an young Irish man living with the same condition. The dynamic between his mother and himself is beautifully explored plus his natural drive to individualise against her worry that he will cope and the ability to let him go into his adult life. Not since BBC Eastender's has there been a character so convincing in explaining through art and acting what it is like for people living with a mental illness. Back in 1996 Paul Nichols played the role for 16 months of Joe Wicks where he explores through the role what living with schizophrenia is all about. This was a very brave directorial decision at that time and by doing so created a discussion around mental health which at that time was taboo. By comparison to today where mental health is now thankfully spoken about more openly and issues around it are not focused on people who have had a diagnosis or having being sectioned. For we now know mental health effects everyone. Charlie Plummer has created a brilliant performance under the direction of director Thor Freudenthal For all those interested in mental health, meditation and mindfulness you have to watch this movie. Apart from being an enjoyable movie the insight you get is priceless. Neroli Candle with Eco-soy Wax

Sadly the inspiration behind the documentary was his friend Joe Lyons who he lost to suicide last year. Just like many suicides, one of the themes of this very honest documentary was how there was no signs of danger beforehand. Many of the people who are left coming to terms with a death of this nature are left with many questions. Also stress, as Kemp brilliantly elucidates in this one hour documentary. Crisis Conciousness & Spiritual Emergency. When I explain suicide in the Learning to Exhale mindfulness training course I speak of two things - Crisis Consciousness & Spiritual Emergency. People are very shocked to learn that people can descend into a suicidal state very quickly. Studies have shown ten minutes in fact. Trouble is, and perhaps this may offer some comfort to people left bereaved, is that research now tells us that if the suicidal thought arises in someones mind, the more they try and push it out the stronger it gets. People will enter into a crisis consciousness or spiritual emergency in their lifetime at some point. This will be due to trauma, divorce, redundancy, post natal depression, workplace bullying - you name it. Calling what Peter is going through a spiritual emergency rather than a psychotic episode or Anna being in crisis consciousness is far kinder than dry medical descriptions like post natal depression. The terms also garner more compassion and self- compassion. In order to survive, the ample soul needs refreshments and reminders daily of its right to be and to be wherever it finds itself. The director of Kemp's documentary 'Our Silent Emergency', Josh Allott deserves praise for how he has handled such a powerful subject that affects the lives of so many people. From how Kemp was searingly honest in this documentary film in a very deep and personal way, one can see that director Allott must have built up a deep trust over many months with his subject and has proven this with the final edit. Kemp's main worry with the project was giving an explanation of how marvellous his friend Joe was and living up to responsibility. How confusing it was that he saw no signs leading up to the loss and that Joe never said anything was wrong prior to his suicide. The result of the whole work for Kemp and Allott is a beautiful requiem for Joe. One very moving part of the documentary is when Kemp speaks of when he was told of Joe's death and how three minutes was so significant. Three minutes was all it would have taken for Roman to run to Joe's home from the radio studio. He could have ran to Joe's flat if he was in trouble, as if he could have saved him, if he had known. You can tell from his tears and grief he would have ran like hell if he could have. If he had been given the chance. This section of the documentary was very moving and Allott documented the trauma of his loss in such a way thousands of people could identify with the loss the Roman was grieving. This has allowed many thousands of people to identify with Kemp's grief and the hurt of that loss. A purification of sorts for the soul. Viewers got to see the effects of suicide from a number of perspectives. Three groups of lads were interviewed and you could tell how the loss has made a big impact on them. All three spoke about the lack of warning signs and as a result have bonded more and are checking in with each other. As a result of the loss part of their response has to become more bonded and also it appears more vulnerable. This theme of vulnerability deserves more ink. Especially how do males become vulnerable with each other about how they are truly feeling. Support groups like Men's Sheds are really crucial. These sheds are now a worldwide movement. Offering moral support to men in difficulty from other men. Kemp touches on what I call the 'social self' or persona and 'essential self'. People in groups generally socialise, even work and live, in persona. Who they are, like Joe, is behind the social mask. This may go some way to explain why Kemp, even though he revealed his own struggles with mental health, his friend never spoke of his own. Half ways through the documentary Kemp revealed his own struggles with mental health since he was teen. He is very open about his need for an antidepressant to stabilise his mood. He is not alone as there are one in twenty people taking one in the UK and one in four in Ireland. Kemp also speaks openly about his own suicidal ideation to his mother which must have been hard for both of them. He achieves two things here, one he sort of breaks the spell of it and hopefully the hold it has on him and secondly demonstrates to thousands of others how to, making them a whole lot safer if they follow his lead and speak to someone who is a soft and supportive place to fall. This took a lot of courage from Kemp to do and he should be highly commended for doing so. Especially from a young adult whose career is being seen as being 'perfect' in the realm or bardo of social media. Rather than seeing the Wisdom of Imperfection Kemp's honesty, mask off, is pure perfection and must have been so refreshing, healing and touching for all the millions of people watching. Hopefully many lives have been saved by the broadcast. Mindful Beauty Sweet Dreams Box
