As you will have seen in the press last week a lot of hand sanitisers have been recalled by the government. These are very harsh on the skin anyways and if you go into 12 shops you have to spray 12 times. This is very drying on the skin and these sanitisers have been giving rise to dermatitis on peoples hands. Some as we now know have contained methanol which should not have ever been used on skin. Especially kids skin. Our solution to all of this is our award winning Calendula Hand Salve & Balm. This won an award at the Wide Awake West of Ireland Honey Show. This is really soothing on the hands and made with certified organic natural ingredients. Hand made with organic: calendulas that we grow here on the organic farm we have, shea butter, cocoa, coconut, Irish beeswax, jojoba oil, rosehip oil, German chamomile and sweet almond oil. All these combined together with anti-aging immortelle are just super for the hands. Coconut Oil Coconut oil has been shown to sooth the skin more than mineral oil. The oil also has, due to some the fatty acids, anti-microbial and antiviral properties. These fatty acids also counter dryness of the skin Shea Butter Who doesn't like Shea Butter? Packed full of moisturising fatty acids and Vitamin A and also Vitamin E this is deeply nourishing and moisturising ingredient in our balm. Shea butter has been shown to aid the skin in cases of eczema, psoriasis and also dermatitis. In Africa it is well know to cure rashes. Cocoa Butter Apart form being a lovely moisturising butter for the skin, cocoa also has phytochemicals that help protect the skin. Full of antioxidants it is great for scars and stretch marks too, so we guess this will add to the anti-aging power of our Mindful Beauty Salve. Irish Beeswax We are using Irish Beeswax made in Mayo by thousands of bees carrying the wax components from the coastal countryside into the hives. We want to support Irish beekeepers as we don't make any amount of honey near what the Spanish and French are doing. We also need to protect the bee as when the last one dies we will only have three years left of food!? They help produce so much food in nature. Jojoba Oil The jojoba is included as it is nutritious for the skin, very hydrating, long lasting as a moisturiser and soothing to dry skin. Sweet Almond Oil A recent study has shown that a product containing sweet almond oil reduced the symptoms of moderate or severe hand dermatitis. In addition we have included this in the balm as its so helpful when there is itching of the skin. Rosehip Oil Rosehip now has an international reputation as a skin miracle maker. Full of antioxidants and luxuriously anti-aging we have also blended this into the formula. German Chamomile A major component of chamomile for anti-inflammatory purposes is α-bisabolol. This is a fantastic anti-irritant, even used at small amounts of even under 1%. and can reduce skin irritation and help to prevent and reduce redness. Chamazulene is the flavonoid that gives chamomile its colour and it is considered to be a powerful anti-inflammatory. Imortelle This is a fabulous anti-aging compound that heals the skin. Turmeric We pop this in as a natural colour agent but turmeric is also know all over India as natural anti-inflammatory. Retailers can contact us about the counter unit. This comes with 18 pots of the salve and 50g each.
